awww

So quite exciting, today I received alot of mail today, including some tax document forms, some paper I ordered (to make my pendants), and a random card…so I was curious to know who had sent me something…and lo and behold it was this fancy looking card with a sweet note from one of my pendant buyers just saying thank you for the pendants!  how sweet is that?!  I’d think it should have been the other way around, that I thank her!  But it totally made my day that she took the time to send that, so sweet! 🙂

Contests!

Two of my Etsy street teams are having contests right now. The Jewelry on Etsy Team (JET) is having a Treasure Hunt, where you search through various etsy shops (including mine!) to find a JET team logo in one of the items. The full details are found here: http://jewelryonetsyteam.blogspot.com/2008/01/time-for-jet-treasure-hunt.html

Also, the EtsyGreetings team is having a contest where you answer a few simple questions about what cards you like, what do you use them for, etc. and you get entered into a raffle. For more details about that and the prizes, please read here: http://etsygreetings.blogspot.com/

“Lovers’ Embrace” Photo Card

This Photo card was featured in the Etsygreetings Blog!

Location: This was taken inside the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. This is one of my favorite statues, its of “Psyche & Cupid”, the legendary tale of how Psyche’s beauty was drawing more attention than the Goddess Venus, so Venus sets out to punish Psyche. Venus orders her son, Cupid, to make Psyche fall in love with the ugliest man on earth. However, Cupid ends up falling in love with Psyche, which then causes lots of drama and almost losing each other…but in the end, they end up finding each other again, giving a message that love will always triumph in the end.

This photo has Sepia tones and a special soft glow effect so that the focus is just on the two lover’s embrace. This card is great for Valentines Day for anybody who loves fine art, photography, travel, or a great love story (or anybody looking for a card that isnt pink, red, or with hearts).

My First Notecards Sale!

My Etsy shop is quite the eclectic mix of things for sale, from jewelry to household items to photographic prints to notecards. I havent had any success in selling my photo notecards, that is until yesterday! One lucky buyer swooped up 3 of my notecards yesterday! I was so happy!

These photographs all have some great stories behind them. The first 2 photos are taken in South Korea, where I got a Fulbright Grant to teach English and be a cultural ambassador for a year. The first photo is of a Buddhist temple in Gwangju, South Korea during autumn. I just love the vibrant colors of the building against the brightly colored leaves too. The second is of Naijangsan in South Korea, an area famous for people to flock to during Autumn to check out the Japanese maples. And finally, the last one is Springtime at my Alma Mater, Mount Holyoke College. A restful spot for someone to recline and nap out on the green or bring their books out to study.

OPINIONS: I wonder if its worth it to try to relist these items or not, if you’re reading this, please let me know!

SALE: Also, today is the LAST DAY of my 20% off sale! so please check out the rest of my Etsy for more items! http://majentadesigns.etsy.com

CHINESE BLESSINGS NECKLACES: Each of these have a Chinese blessing, so wear it for good luck and good fortune! Your choice of pendant, each with its own unique Chinese blessing in black script against a red background. This pendant is made from a lucky Chinese “hong bao” (i.e., red envelope), which is used during the Chinese / Lunar New Year to spread good fortune and wishes for an auspicious new year!

***This item was featured in an Etsy Treasury of some of the top sellers in New England, check it out here! ***

CHOICES:
1. Longevity (i.e., long life)
2. Good Fortune
3. Good Health
4. Peace

LOTUS FLOWER NECKLACE: This piece is one-of-a-kind. This pendant is of a purple lotus flower on a green lily pad outlined with shimmery gold leaf. The design of the paper makes the images really 3D, in addition to the glass, it really gives the image great depth and dimension. This pendant is ONE OF A KIND, NOT TO BE DUPLICATED!

SYMBOLISM: Not only is this a beautiful design, but this paper is from a Chinese New Year greeting card, because of the symbolism of the lotus flower. There are many meanings for the lotus flower, one being the harmony and love between husband and wife, continuity of luck, wealth, promotions and children. The symbolism is also tied to just the struggle and beauty of life, as the lotus flower grows up from the mud into a object of great beauty, so is the desire that people also grow and change into something more beautiful. So the symbol represent the struggle of life at its most basic form.

GOLDEN FLOWER on RED NECKLACE: This is another beautiful pendant made out of “hong bao”. I only have two of these, so snatch them up quickly before they are gone!

End of Summer – Martha’s Vineyard Sunset

STORY: This photo was taking on a beach in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. PHOTO’s STORY: This photograph was taken in Gwangju, South Korea, where it says “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in many languages, including English and Korean. This sign was posted near their “Democracy Memorial” where it recognizes the tragedy that happened on 5.18 known as the Gwangju Uprising, which is similar to the Tienanmen Square Massacre in China, where people protested what was going on the government, and here they rallied for democracy.
